Starry nights on the Kaunertal Glacier Road
Diving into the vastness of the universe – the Kaunertal Glacier Road provides safe access to a magical place in the middle of a mountain world formed by glacier ice at about 2000m, the Gepatsch in the Kaunertal Valley.
Here, away from the cities and far away from the artificial light, you can experience an unforgettable deep view into a dark night sky, the history of the universe and also of time.
Accompanied by experts, you will learn about the stars and constellations and their significance for mankind, for our orientation and for the creation of stories and world views. Signs of the times in the Kaunertal Valley, in our galaxy and the universe will give you new insights into dimensions at the limit of your imagination.
To round off the day, you can take a night-time break at the Gepatschhaus, Austria’s oldest alpine club hut, to relive the impressions.

Information about the guided starwalks
- Meeting point: Toll station of the Kaunertal Glacier Road, Feichten. Driving on the toll Kaunertal Glacier Road in a private car is included in the fee, but is at your own risk. It is recommended to form car pools from the toll station.
- In case of unsuitable weather, the tour will be cancelled until 16:00h on the day of the event.
- Costs: € 20.00 per person, € 15.00 with guest card.

- To bring: Good footwear, clothing suitable for the night in the mountains, torch for orientation before and after the experience, red light lamps are available on loan for the duration of the tour.
- Duration: Easy, about 20-minute hike on existing hiking trails with many breaks to marvel and experience.
